Getting Started

Our goal is to make your loan experience as simple and straightforward as possible. Whether you’re ready to begin the process in earnest, or you just have a few questions, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help. We know you’re busy, so we can set up a meeting in our office, or we can get going via phone or email.

An overview of the loan process

  1. Pre-qualification: If you want to purchase a home, we begin by pre-qualifying you for a loan. In this simple process, we’ll pull a credit report and gather some basic debt/income information from you so that we can assess your overall financial situation. This typically only takes a few hours to complete.
  2. Loan exploration: When you’re ready to move forward with a loan (purchase or refinance), we’ll walk you through a more detailed application so that we can compare and contrast the various loan products you qualify for. We’ll talk about the features of each program, discuss rate and term options, give you detailed monthly scenarios (payments, insurance, etc.), and help you find the one that best fits your needs.
  3. Loan processing: The next phase is all about inspecting and verifying the property itself (such as a home assessment, home inspection, title search, underwriting, etc.). This phase typically lasts 30-45 days.
  4. Loan closing: Once the processing is complete, it’s time to review all of the loan details together and sign on the dotted line (a few times). This process has gotten faster and more efficient over the years, and we’ll be there with you to make sure everything is clear, and that you’re comfortable as you complete the loan process.
